Your Privacy Matters

MenuMate is designed with your privacy in mind. Your profile data stays on your device. When you choose to use AI-powered menu analysis, certain data is shared with third-party AI services as described below.

✅ Local Data Storage

Your profile, dietary preferences, allergies, and nutrition tracking data are stored locally on your device using secure storage. We do not collect, store, or have access to this information on our servers.

When you use MenuMate’s AI analysis features, the following data is sent to third-party AI services:

Menu photos you capture or upload
Your dietary goals (e.g., High Protein, Low Carb, Vegetarian)
Your allergy information (e.g., Peanuts, Gluten, Shellfish)
Group dining details (number of adults, kids, seniors) if the group dining feature is enabled

Who receives this data:

Services are used as regional fallbacks to ensure reliable analysis. Menu images and accompanying data are processed in real-time and are not permanently stored by MenuMate or the AI providers after analysis is complete.

You must explicitly consent to this data sharing before AI features are activated. You can withdraw consent at any time in Profile → Privacy Settings. Without consent, all other app features remain available; only AI menu analysis is disabled.

💳 Payments

Payments are managed entirely through Apple’s App Store. We do not process or store payment information. All transactions go through Apple’s secure payment system.

❤️ HealthKit Integration

If you enable HealthKit sync, nutrition data will be shared with Apple Health. You control these permissions in iOS Settings. This data is not sent to our servers.

🚫 No Analytics or Tracking

MenuMate does not use analytics, tracking, or advertising SDKs. We do not track your usage, location, or behavior.

🔐 Your Data, Your Control

You can revoke AI data sharing consent at any time in Profile → Privacy Settings
Use ‘Reset All Settings’ to delete all local data from your device
Revoking consent does not delete locally stored profile data

A: MenuMate uses advanced AI models to estimate nutrition based on typical serving sizes and ingredients. Estimates are generally accurate but may vary from actual values.

Q: Can I use MenuMate offline?
A: You need an internet connection to analyze menus. However, previously saved recommendations can be viewed offline.

Q: How do I cancel my subscription?
A: Subscriptions are managed through your Apple ID settings. Go to Settings > [Your Name] > Subscriptions > MenuMate.

Q: What data is shared with third parties?
A: When you use the AI menu analysis feature (with your explicit consent), MenuMate sends your menu photo, dietary goals, allergy information, and group dining preferences to third-party AI services (OpenAI, Google Gemini, or DeepSeek depending on your region) for analysis. Your profile data, nutrition log, and all other personal data remain on your device and are never sent to us or any third party.

Q: Can I use the app without sharing data with AI services?
A: Yes. If you do not consent to AI data sharing, all app features except AI menu analysis remain available. You can also revoke consent at any time in Profile → Privacy Settings.

Q: What languages are supported?
